# Search & Filters

> Find and filter items in your Storehouses portfolio

## Overview

Storehouses provides powerful search and filtering capabilities to help you quickly find specific items or groups of assets in your portfolio.

## Quick Search

Use the global search bar available on most pages to find items instantly.

### How to Search

### What You Can Search

The search function looks through:

* **Item titles** - The name you gave the item
* **Descriptions** - Item description field
* **Category-specific fields** - Brand names, metal types, artist names, etc.
* **Notes** - Your private notes
* **Collection names** - Items in named collections
* **Location names** - Items at specific locations

### Search Examples

```
gold eagle          → Finds all American Gold Eagle coins
rolex submariner    → Finds Rolex Submariner watches
2015 bordeaux       → Finds Bordeaux wines from 2015
picasso             → Finds artwork by Picasso
silver bars         → Finds silver bullion bars
```

## Advanced Filters

Access advanced filtering from the Items page or Dashboard.

### Filter by Category

    * Precious Metals
    * Luxury Watches
    * Gemstones
    * Fine Jewelry
    * Wine

    View filtered results
  </Step>

### Filter by Location

Show only items stored at specific locations:

1. Click "Location" filter
2. Select one or more locations
3. View items only from those locations

**Use case**: "Show me everything in my home safe"

### Filter by Collection

View items from specific collections:

1. Click "Collection" filter
2. Select collections
3. See only items in those collections

**Use case**: "Show me only my investment gold coins"

### Filter by Value Range

Find items within a specific value range:

**Use case**: "Show me all items worth over \$10,000"

### Filter by Date Added

Show items added within a date range:

**Use case**: "Show me everything I added in 2024"

### Filter by Purchase Date

Find items acquired within a specific time period:

**Use case**: "Show me all items I bought last year"

## Precious Metals Specific Filters

For precious metals, additional filters include:

### Metal Type

Filter by specific metals:

* Gold
* Silver
* Platinum
* Palladium
* Rhodium

### Weight Range

  Minimum weight in troy ounces

  Maximum weight in troy ounces

**Use case**: "Show me all gold items over 5 oz"

### Purity

Filter by purity/fineness:

* .999+ (Pure)
* .900-.999 (Sterling/High purity)
* Below .900

## Combining Filters

Apply multiple filters simultaneously for precise results:

**Example 1**: Investment Gold

Category: Precious Metals
Metal: Gold
Weight: > 1 oz
Location: Bank Vault
```

**Example 2**: Recent Watch Purchases

```
Category: Luxury Watches
Date Added: Last 6 months
Value: > $5,000
```

**Example 3**: Collection Review

```
Collection: Bordeaux Wines
Vintage: 2009-2010
Value: > $100/bottle
```

## Sorting Results

Sort filtered results by:

  </Tab>

  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Purchase Date">
    * Most recent acquisition
    * Oldest acquisition
  </Tab>

## Saved Searches (Pro)

Save frequently used filter combinations:

    Give it a descriptive name

    **Examples**:

    * "High-value Gold (>\$10k)"
    * "Recently Added Watches"
    * "Bank Vault Inventory"

    Access saved searches from the sidebar
  </Step>

## Export Filtered Results

Export your filtered search results:

1. Apply desired filters
2. Click "Export"
3. Choose format (CSV or PDF)
4. Download filtered results

## Search Tips

    More specific terms return better results.

    * "bord" finds "Bordeaux" wines
    * "2015" finds all 2015 items

    No need to worry about capitalization:

    * "rolex" = "ROLEX" = "Rolex"
  </Accordion>

    For complex searches, use filters instead of trying to craft the perfect search term.

    **Instead of searching**: "gold over 5oz in vault"
    **Use filters**:

    * Category: Precious Metals
    * Metal: Gold
    * Weight: > 5 oz
    * Location: Vault

## Mobile Search

On mobile devices:

* Tap the search icon in the header
* Full-screen search interface
* Same filtering capabilities
* Swipe to access filter menu
* Results optimized for mobile viewing

## Keyboard Shortcuts

Speed up your search with keyboard shortcuts:

| `/`            | Open search        |
| `Esc`          | Close search       |
| `↓` `↑`        | Navigate results   |
| `Enter`        | Open selected item |
| `Ctrl/Cmd + F` | Focus search       |

## Search Performance

  Storehouses search is optimized for large portfolios. Even with thousands of items, search results appear instantly.

## Common Search Scenarios

### Find All Items in a Specific Year

1. Use "Date Added" filter
2. Set year range (e.g., Jan 1 2024 - Dec 31 2024)
3. Or search for "2024" in purchase date field

### Find Items Without Locations

1. Apply "Location" filter
2. Select "No Location"
3. View unassigned items

### Find High-Value Items

1. Use "Value Range" filter
2. Set minimum value (e.g., \$10,000)
3. Sort by value (highest first)

### Find Items Without Photos

1. Apply "Has Photos" filter
2. Select "No"
3. View items needing documentation
