## Supported Asset Categories

Storehouses supports fifteen specialized asset categories, each with tailored fields to capture the most relevant information for that type of collectible or investment.

## Choosing the Right Category

Select the category that best matches your item. While some items could fit multiple categories, choose based on the primary characteristic:

  **Precious Metals** get automatic valuation based on current spot prices, weight, and purity. Values update daily as market prices change.

### Certification Tracking

**Gemstones** includes fields for:

* Certification body (GIA, AGS, etc.)
* Certificate number
* Grading details (cut, color, clarity, carat)

### Provenance Documentation

**Fine Art** and **Arms & Armor** include provenance fields to document:

* Previous owners
* Exhibition history
* Authentication documentation
* Historical significance

* Vintage year
* Producer/distillery
* Age statements

## Switching Categories

If you need to change an item's category:

  Changing an item's category will reset category-specific fields. Common fields (title, purchase price, etc.) are preserved.
